40 Days of Growth - Join Us
Prayer for 28 October

God, you are my king. Jesus, you are my savior; but you are much more than that. You are my king. You are the Lord of my life and when anything comes in conflict with your leadership, I want to choose to follow you. This is true whether the conflict stems from money, relationships, material possessions, governments, places of employment, or selfish desires. Spirit, empower me to surrender my life to King Jesus. Help me to grow in service to my king, so that I might be one with the Father, just as King Jesus is one with the Father.

Amen.

Part of what makes life worth living and satisfying is to be connected to other people in meaningful relationships. It's one thing to say it, and to believe it, yet something quite different to live it out. We encourage you to find a small group of believers to connect with and to share your life with. You won't look back, we promise.

Welcome!

This is our Forty Days of Growth web site. We hope this place on the web will provide you with another way to stay connected with us. Here you may download files, read devotionals, keep up to date with information and news, and have access to other great inforamtion.

Just another great way to stay connected!

No matter where you find yourself in your spiritual walk there is always room for growth.  It is for this reason that we are preparing for 40 Days of Growth.  Starting 15 October we will be embarking together on a journey of discipleship intended to deepen the spiritual lives of all believers here at Philpott.  We want you to choose  to come with us.

Discipleship is one of five purposes for life as outlined in Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life.  The other four are Worship, Fellowship, Ministry/Service, and Mission/Evangelism.  We have decided to focus on discipleship this year so that we might (1) remember the joy of our salvation, (2) learn and put into practice what it truly means to be a follower of Jesus, and (3) break through the walls that block our spiritual growth.  All of these together will enable us to better achieve what is currently just an aspiration; to become a community of grace.

This year we will go through a book together, called Choose the Life by Bill Hull.  In his preface Hull writes, “Ours is a gospel that calls every person to believe what Jesus believed, live as he lived, love as he loved, serve as he served, and lead as he led.  It has the power to revolutionize the meaning of faith and restore to the church its growth, morality, and ability to influence an increasingly skeptical and needy world.” (pg. 12)  We will be exploring this idea while asking God to transform us both as individuals and as a community.

Please take some time to visit this website so that you may be informed about how you can prepare for the 40 Days of Growth.  This is a journey that we must take together.  As Jesus said, “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13:34-5).”  Let us then go deeper together in faith and love as His disciples during this 40 Days of Growth.
